Boric has described reaching these types of agreements as "fundamental" "with a view to mutual benefit."
Chilean President Gabriel Boric announced this Tuesday that negotiations will begin with India to reach a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement, with the goal of strengthening the economic relationship between the two countries.
Boric has described reaching this type of agreement as "fundamental" and collaborative, aiming for mutual benefit in an "increasingly turbulent" world. The president made the announcement during his visit to India, during a meeting with the country's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
This agreement, similar to a free trade agreement, will be designed with the flexibility required by the different economic sectors of India and Chile to be beneficial for both parties.
Although no timeframe has been specified, both leaders have agreed to act as quickly as possible to achieve this "without a doubt" within the year. To reach this agreement, Boric praised the work and discussions held by the Foreign Ministries of both countries.
