WOM claims that the changes, effective June 1, will “strengthen its growth strategy in a highly dynamic and competitive market.”
Nearly two months after the arrival of a new CEO, telecoms company WOM Chile announced changes to its executive structure and the creation of two new vice presidencies.
The announcement follows the early April decision to file for Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Law in the US, when Chris Bannister (“Uncle WOM”) was still at the organization's helm.
The two new positions are the Vice Presidency of Marketing & Sales (COO) and the Vice Presidency of Strategy & New Businesses, to be respectively headed by Lucas Airaudo and Niklas Lind. The latter had served as WOM's marketing director since 2022.
According to the company's general manager, Martín Vaca Narvaja, the new changes in the organizational structure would allow them to focus more on their target markets and achieve operational synergies. “Great challenges also require new structures, which mainly respond to being even more strategic and efficient,” he commented in an official statement.
Airaudo, who has experience in other brands in the sector such as Nokia, Brightsar and América Móvil, said he felt “happy to be a new WOMer. "I arrive very excited and committed to the challenges that lie ahead and to continue with the success story that the company has written since its arrival in Chile."
These changes, with which WOM claims will “strengthen its growth strategy in a highly dynamic and competitive market,” will become effective from June 1.
Hours after it became known that Bannister was leaving WOM, he used his LinkedIn account to denounce that Novator Partners, the company's main shareholder, did not fulfill its promise to inject money into the company, which is why it was forced to resort to Chapter 11.
“Uncle WOM” added that he was removed from his position, resulting in Narvaja's arrival to the organization. "Good luck. I wish you much success, do not let the advisors 'eat too much at the trough'," he told the new general manager through the aforementioned social network.
