Ilan Goldfajn and the liberal president addressed issues such as the IDB's technical support to Argentina to improve spending efficiency and the protection of the most vulnerable people.
The president of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Ilan Goldfajn, held a meeting this Thursday in Washington with the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, in which he conveyed the commitment of the institution he presides to the development of Argentina.
In this meeting, Goldfajn and Milei addressed issues such as the IDB's technical support to Argentina to improve spending efficiency and the protection of the most vulnerable people. Likewise, they have analyzed the possibilities of IDB Invest, the private sector arm of the IDB Group, to promote investment and business activity in Argentina.
At the end of the meeting, Goldfajn maintained that the meeting has been "positive" and has allowed them to convey first-hand to the president of the country the commitment they have with Argentina.
The Minister of Economy of Argentina, Luis Caputo, is scheduled to travel to Washington next week, in the context of the Spring Assembly of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
This will be a new opportunity to advance the joint plans between Argentina and the IDB, with a meeting with Goldfajn in which they will discuss a possible expansion of the loan portfolio to the Government.
Milei's meeting this Thursday is part of the official trip he is taking these days in the United States. After a meeting with the Jewish community, the president will travel to Texas tomorrow to meet with the CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk.
In this meeting that will take place in one of the Tesla factories in the Texas city of Austin, the Argentine president hopes to attract investments linked to the technology and automotive industries.
Milei already announced a month and a half ago that a visit by Musk to the country could take place before the end of the first quarter of the year, but finally both will meet in person on American soil, after several exchanges through social networks.
