Pemex recorded a 17% increase in its debt with suppliers and contractors during March

The report on the status of the debt with suppliers of the Mexican oil company does not include amounts in dispute, taxes, as well as work that is in the conciliation process with creditors.

Pemex registered an increase of 17.3% in its debt with suppliers and contractors to 163,207 million pesos (about US$ 9,528 million) as of March 2024, according to a report released this Monday.

The Mexican state oil company has obligations already invoiced since 2023 and in 2024 for 162,881 million pesos (US$ 9,529 million) in addition to works and/or materials received pending invoice for 326 million pesos (US$ 19 million), according to the report .

The report on the status of debt with Pemex suppliers does not include amounts in dispute, taxes, as well as works that are in the conciliation process with creditors.

According to the information disclosed by the oil company, which also has a financial debt of US$106.1 billion, it has made payments of 505.912 million pesos (US$29.598 million) in 2023 and 2024.

For months, Pemex has faced serious difficulties in paying suppliers, contractors and oil operators who have warned that lack of compliance could put the survival of private companies at risk and hit hydrocarbon production.

Pemex reported a debt with suppliers of 359,760 million pesos (US$ 21,047 million) at the end of 2023, its highest level in recent years. In February it said it would seek to accelerate payments to meet those liabilities.
