Consumer confidence in Mexico stagnated in April

The Consumer Confidence Indicator (CCI) reported a level of 47.3 points, with seasonally adjusted figures.

The confidence of Mexican consumers stagnated during the month of April, according to information released by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).

In the fourth month of the year, the Consumer Confidence Indicator (CCI) reported a level of 47.3 points, with seasonally adjusted figures.

The above meant stagnation compared to the previous month, while in its annual comparison it grew 3.1 points.

The Inegi report, prepared jointly with the Bank of Mexico (Banxico), showed that of its five components of the CCI, one stagnated and two decreased compared to March.

The component that stagnated during April was the one that refers to the current economic situation of the household members.

Meanwhile, the perspective of the future economic situation of household members fell by 0.9 monthly points in April.

Regarding the economic situation of the country expected in the next 12 months, it deteriorated by 0.2 points per month, while the current economic situation improved by 0.3 points.

The component that showed the best performance was purchase possibilities, with a monthly increase of 0.9 points.

These data occur in a situation where the GDP reported, in the first third of the year, an advance of 0.2% quarterly, while in annual comparison it grew 2%.
