The INE pointed out that the increase in the manufacturing and electricity, gas and water sectors was decisive in the result, while mining decreased in the same period.
This morning the National Institute of Statistics (INE) reported that in April 2024 the Industrial Production Index (IPI) of Chile had an increase of 2% in twelve months.
This is due to the positive impact of two of the three sectors that make up the index.
The Manufacturing Production Index (IPMan) presented an increase of 5.1% in twelve months, largely explained by the year-on-year increase of 4.6% in the production of food products, which had an impact of 1,566 points. in the variation of the general index.
The Electricity, Gas and Water Production Index (IPEGA), meanwhile, grew 1% in twelve months, due to the greater activity registered in electricity, which increased 2.7%, having an impact of 1,973 pp. in the variation of the index.
Finally, the Mining Production Index (IPMin) presented a year-on-year decrease of 1.1%, as a consequence of the lower activity registered in two of the three types of mining that comprise it.
