Inflation in Ecuador fell to 2.53% in May

Unlike other Latin American countries, the country has remained at relatively low levels, reaching its peak in June 2022, when it rose to 4.2% year-on-year.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) of Ecuador has decreased two tenths in May compared to April, and has fallen to 2.53% year-on-year, compared to the rebound of the previous month, as disclosed by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses ( INEC) of Ecuador.

This continues to be one of the highest levels so far this year, only behind April, although it means leaving behind the two-month inflation trend in Ecuador, since it accumulated increases in March and April.

Unlike other Latin American countries, Ecuador's CPI has remained at relatively low levels, reaching its peak in June 2022, when it rose to 4.2% year-on-year.

Regarding monthly inflation, it has been negative, at 0.12%, which represents a great contrast with the increase of 1.27% registered in April.

By spending divisions, in monthly terms, seven of the 12 groups experienced declines, highlighting the drop in food and non-alcoholic beverages, of 0.1%. On the contrary, the greatest increase has been in transportation, of 0.01%.
