Salaries in Chile grow again during April driven by trade and manufacturing industry

As reported by the National Institute of Statistics, commerce, manufacturing industry, public administration and construction had the highest positive annual incidences for both indicators.

Salaries in Chile showed a nominal twelve-month increase of 6.4% in April, while the Real Remuneration Index - which measures salaries adjusted for inflation - rose by 2.3% in twelve months, accumulating -0 .5% so far this year.

For its part, the Nominal Labor Cost Index (ICL) also had a twelve-month increase of around 6.5%.

As reported by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) on Thursday, commerce, manufacturing industry, public administration and construction had the highest positive annual incidences for both indicators.

“The average remuneration per ordinary hour stood at $6,298, recording a year-on-year increase of 6.6%. For women, the value reached $6,095, which meant an annual variation of 6.7%; while for men it stood at $6,484, registering an increase of 6.6% in the same period,” they noted.

In turn, the average labor cost per hour, in the case of women, was $6,933 (6.5%), while in the case of men it was $7,433 (6.8%).

“The gender gap in average remuneration per ordinary hour was -6.0%; while the average labor cost per total hour was -6.7%,” they noted.
