International flights to Mexico grew by 19.9% until April compared to 2019

This has been highlighted by the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico, Miguel Torruco, who pointed out that the increase is 8.6% compared to the first four months of 2023.

Mexico received more than 39 million passengers on domestic and international flights in the first four months of the year, which represents an increase of 16.8% and 19.9%, respectively, compared to the same period of 2019.

This has been highlighted by the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico, Miguel Torruco, who pointed out that the increase is 8.6% compared to the first four months of 2023 in regards to international flights.

Regarding domestic flights, the airlines with the highest passenger flow during January and April 2024 were Viva Aerobus and Volaris, which transported 13.4 million passengers, exceeding the figure for 2019, with an increase of 64.1%.

Regarding passengers transported on international flights, according to the main markets, North America concentrates a share of 87% of the total, of which, 10.35 million passengers were transported from the US market, with an increase of 8.4 % more than in the same period of 2023.

Almost 5.4 million passengers were transported on international flights on Mexican airlines, with an increase of 14.7% more than from January to April 2023. Meanwhile, 2.34 million passengers traveled on Canadian flights, which represents an increase of 12.9% more compared to the same period in 2023.

Meanwhile, from the European market, 1.23 million passengers were transported to Mexico and almost 1.37 from Central and South America. 98,992 passengers arrived from the Asian market.

The Secretary of Tourism has highlighted that without air connectivity "there is no tourism", which is why, in the current administration, the increase in routes and frequencies from different international markets has been promoted, as well as the diversification of the tourism product, with the purpose to fulfill its mandate "to make tourism a tool of social reconciliation.
