Through its API integration, Shinkansen automates business transactions. This is Krealo's third investment in Chile and the tenth in the region.
Krealo, the Corporate Venture Capital of the Credicorp Group, announced its investment in Shinkansen, a Chilean startup that automates business-to-business transactions in real time through an API integration. With this, there are three Krealo investments in Chile and ten in the region .
Shinkansen allows companies to automate the movement of money safely. From 2023 to date, its clients have transacted US$1.4 billion using its API in Chile, Mexico, Colombia and now also in Peru .
“We invested in Shinkansen because its business model complements our innovation strategy, making it easier to make payments between companies. Its dual value proposition, both for companies and banks, makes it a startup with great potential that we seek to promote by creating synergies with the Credicorp group. An important first step is to have facilitated the entry of its operations into Peru,” commented Adolfo Vinatea, CEO of Krealo.
Shinkansen is born from the vision that money is data. Therefore, it is programmable and automatable with the same speed with which we move information over the Internet. Consequently, they join different banks in each country where they operate.
Through their API, they manage to automate the payment process of companies, eliminating the manual process of uploading files and mitigating the risk of human errors.
“Working as a partner of banks is what differentiates us. Companies that use Shinkansen can automate their treasury safely. The money is safe in your bank account, without Shinkansen accessing your account or touching the money. Our technology allows, for example, a factoring or an investment company to send their payments automatically in seconds, gaining speed and efficiency,” said Leo Soto, CEO and co-founder of Shinkansen.
As part of its active role in the fintech ecosystem, the investments being made by Krealo have the objective of enhancing Credicorp's businesses and providing access to new verticals or technologies, contributing to the transformation of financial services in the Andean Region.
“Having the support of the Credicorp group, through Krealo's investment, allows us to work with the most innovative companies in Peru, connected to the BCP,” Soto added.
