In addition, it is expected that the port of Arica, in Chile, will reopen this weekend so that the three ships with fuel can dock and the supply of diesel in the country will normalize.

The manager of Derived and Industrialized Products of the state-owned Yacimientos Petrolófilos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB), Gabriela Delgadillo, reported that, mainly from Argentina and Paraguay, tankers with diesel are transported to the country, which will restore the supply of this fuel to starting Thursday.

On Monday, the president of the state oil company, Armin Dorgathen, admitted that there is a 22% reduction in the supply of diesel throughout the country, caused by climatic factors in the port of Arica, Chile, and in the Paraguay Waterway. Paraná, which generated long lines of high-tonnage trucks at service stations that require fuel.

“We are going to fill this 22% with the tankers that come from Argentina and Paraguay to be able to provide stability and continuity to the diesel supply and we hope that this will stabilize starting Thursday and Friday of this week,” he told the RTP network.

Delgadillo explained that the climate problem in the Chilean port of Arica raised the sea waves above 1.40 meters, which prevents the three ships, two with diesel and one with crude oil, from docking.

As a result of the high swell, the Maritime Government of Chile decided to close the port until further notice. Delgadillo said that, according to information from the meteorological service, it is expected that the port of Arica may be operational by the weekend.

"We have been informed that there is a very high probability that a window could occur, technically we call it a window, the days when the port comes into operation and it would be this weekend, there is a high probability, let's hope that this meteorological forecast comes true" , said.

Regarding the entry point through the Waterway, the YPFB executive indicated that the conditions for the navigability of the barges do not exist because at the moment the draft exists is below one meter and more than two meters are required for their transit.

Since last week, in the city of La Paz, lines of high-tonnage motor vehicles were installed at service stations.

The transporters reported that the diesel supply at the pumps was limited to 300 liters, an insufficient volume for a trip to the department of Santa Cruz.
