Diego Llosa urged the authorities to ensure the cultivation of pisco grapes in the areas with Designation of Origin: Lima, Ica, Arequipa, Moquegua, and the valleys of Locumba, Sama and Caplina in Tacna.

He maintained that a census and close collaboration with the authorities are essential in order to guarantee the availability of this fundamental input and also called for continuing to promote domestic consumption, explore new international markets and fight against counterfeiting, with the purpose of preserving its authenticity.

The event had the support of the General Archive of the Nation (AGN), an entity that presented historical documentation on the production and shipping of pisco from Ica to other ports, evidencing its origin in the valleys of the region since the 16th century. The talk was given by its institutional head, Ricardo Moreau.

The presentation on the Denomination of Origin was led by the director of Distinctive Signs of Indecopi, Sergio Chuez Salazar, and the sensory analysis was done by the president of the Adex Pisco Committee, Carmen Robatty de Moquillaza.
