Specifically, the Ministry of People's Power for Transport of Venezuela has decided to suspend commercial flights from the country to Panama and the Dominican Republic in response to the "interference" of the governments of both countries regarding the controversial elections held on July 28.

The president of the Venezuelan Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (Avavit), Vicky Herrera, has regretted that the reduction in air connectivity between Venezuela and other countries will negatively affect "and immediately" the possibility of international tourists coming to Venezuela.

"Air connectivity is essential for the development of tourism, international tourism has increased," explained Herrera, who is against this measure, which affects the arrival of international tourists to the country.

In a radio interview, the president referred to the decision of Nicolás Maduro's government to suspend flights with Peru, the Dominican Republic and Panama, once the governments of these countries decided to break diplomatic relations with Venezuela, following the events related to the presidential elections, which were held on July 28.

Specifically, the Ministry of Popular Power for Transport of Venezuela has decided to suspend commercial flights from the country to Panama and the Dominican Republic due to the "interference" of the governments of both countries regarding the elections held last Sunday, which gave victory to the current president Nicolás Maduro" amid alleged fraud in the counting of votes.

The Dominican Republic is one of seven Latin American countries (along with Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, Panama and Uruguay) that have been affected by Venezuela's decision to expel diplomats for not recognizing Maduro's victory in those nations.

"In rejection of the interference of right-wing governments and based on full sovereignty, we announce the temporary suspension of commercial air flights to and from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela with Panama and the Dominican Republic," explained the minister of the branch, Ramón Celestino Velásquez Araguayán, in his 'X' account (formerly Twitter).
