Specifically, ANDI President Bruce Mac Master has warned of the "complex" situations that Colombia faces if it does not take action to secure energy supplies.
The National Association of Industrialists (ANDI), the largest business organization in Colombia, has stated that the country needs public policies to guarantee energy security, in light of the events of recent weeks.
Specifically, ANDI President Bruce Mac Master has warned of the "complex" situations that Colombia faces if it does not take action to secure energy supplies.
Mac Master's statements have come in the midst of the fuel crisis that has occurred in the aviation sector, with airlines paralyzing their activity due to the lack of supplies at airports. In addition, the businessman has warned about the "imminent" shortage of natural gas, as he has been mentioning in recent weeks.
Another thorny issue, according to Colombian businessmen, is the situation of the Colombian energy system, which means that all thermal plants must be "in full operation", including coal-fired ones.
The business sector is not the only one that has warned about the need to have a well-oiled energy system and not to abandon traditional energy sources.
On the workers' side, the Unión Sindical Obrera (USO), the third most important trade union organization in Colombia, has called for Ecopetrol's investment plan in hydrocarbon exploration business to be secured in order to guarantee national supply.
