Chile continues to lead the destination of Paraguayan meat with a volume of 85 thousand tons, despite a decrease in slaughter.
The total number of cattle slaughtered during the month of August was 193,603 heads compared to 219,208 heads in July, which means a fall of 11%, according to the monthly report of the National Service for Animal Quality and Health (Senacsa).
The total number of cattle slaughtered in August registered this decrease, while meat exports had a slight increase in volume and value, Senacsa reported.
According to the report, the total number of cattle slaughtered so far this year has reached 1,474,171 heads.
In turn, beef exports from January to August of this year registered a slight increase, compared to the same period last year.
In this case, 221,686,365 kg of beef were shipped, compared to 219,941,621 kg in the same period last year.
This imported volume represented an income of US$ 1,075 million as of August of this year, compared to the US$ 1,054 million it represented in the same period in 2023.

Taiwan follows in second place with 24,104,554 kg and US$ 114,296,700. Meanwhile, in third place is Brazil with 17,993,574 kg and US$ 101,826,3354, in fourth place is Israel with 16,998,067 kg and US$ 88,086,575 and in fifth place is the United States with 12,907,134 kg and US$ 58,777,997.
