The Catalan group Rubau has won the concession for the highway between Silao and San Miguel de Allende (Mexico), together with the Mexican company Vise, for more than 200 million euros (US$ 221 million), it reported in a statement on Thursday.
The contract will last 30 years and includes the design, construction (works should be completed in the next two years), operation and maintenance of the infrastructure.
The total amount amounts to almost 300 million euros (US$ 331 million), since it also includes the concession for the rehabilitation, operation and maintenance of the highway between Silao and Guanajuato (Mexico).
The CEO of Grup Rubau, Miguel Jurado, has celebrated that the award "strengthens the position" of the company in the country.
It first partnered with Mexico's Vise in 2010, when it won a tender to operate an infrastructure consisting of a two-lane beltway and an additional four-lane highway, called the Celaya Libramiento.
