From January to August, US$ 13,913 million was raised, while in the same period in 2023, the figure was US$ 12,189 million.
In 2024, until August, there has been a 14.1% increase in tax collection, reported the Internal Revenue Service (SRI). The entity collected US$ 13,913 million, while in the same period of 2023 the amount collected was US$ 12,189 million.
Damián Larco, general director of the SRI, reported that in August 2024 alone, tax collection amounted to US$ 1,573 million, which represents an increase of 21.1% compared to August 2023, when collection was US$ 1,299 million.
He also indicated that these results are due to the increase in Income Tax collection by 27.6%. This increase is mainly due to self-withholdings, in addition to increases in VAT on imports by 18%, VAT on internal operations by 25.2%, and ISD by 43%.
From January to August 2024, US$ 6,299 million were collected in VAT, which means an increase of 11.5% compared to the same period in 2023, when US$ 5,652 million were collected. As for monthly collection, in August 2024, US$ 902 million were collected for this tax; that is, a variation of 23.3% compared to August of last year.
As of August 2024, US$ 4,842 million were collected in Income Tax, which represents a growth of 13.9% compared to the amount obtained in the same period in 2023 (US$ 4,253 million).
According to Larco, the increase is mainly due to two factors: the implementation of self-withholdings on income tax for Large Corporate Taxpayers, which until August totaled US$ 1,103 million, and the collection by remission from January to July 2024 for Income Tax was US$ 374 million.
In monthly figures, in August 2024, US$ 440 million were collected from Income Tax, that is, 27.6% more than the same month in 2023.
The head of the SRI added that, until July 2024, the sales amount reached US$ 132,604 million, compared to US$ 132,097 million, recorded in the same period in 2023.
This performance reflects 102.8% compliance with the tax administration's target set for 2024.
