Openbank intends to gradually provide access to new customers in blocks in a process that may last approximately one or two months.
Openbank, Banco Santander's digital bank, is in the final phase of its launch process in Mexico and has already enabled the possibility of registering for a waiting list to become a client of the entity.
This waiting list has been the normal process that Openbank has followed when entering new markets. It usually occurs after the bank carries out the first tests within an even smaller group of clients limited to bank employees and their friends and family.
Openbank intends to gradually give access to new customers in blocks in a process that could take approximately one or two months. Banco Santander's goal is for Openbank to be operational this fall, before the end of the year.
To join the waiting list, prospective customers simply need to provide their full name and email address, after which they will receive updates on the progress of the launch.
To lead Openbank's operations in Mexico, Santander has chosen Matías Núñez as general manager for the country. The group led by Ana Botín also plans to launch Openbank in the United States in October.
