On Tuesday, the National Institute of Statistics (INE) reported that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Chile recorded a monthly variation of 0.1% in September.

September 2024 CPI

In September 2024, the CPI accumulated a variation of 3.5% in the year and 4.1% in twelve months compared to the index's linked series.

The INE stated that seven of the thirteen divisions that make up the Index basket contributed positive impacts on the monthly variation, five presented negative impacts and one division registered no impact.

"Among the divisions that showed price increases, clothing and footwear stood out (3.3%) with 0.088 percentage points (pp.) and home equipment and maintenance (0.9%) with 0.056pp," he said.

The remaining divisions that had a positive influence together contributed 0.118pp.

Among the divisions that recorded monthly price declines, food and non-alcoholic beverages stood out (-0.5%), with an impact of -0.109pp.

Products

-Medicines for the digestive and metabolic system: In September, the monthly increase was 8.1%, contributing 0.044pp. to the variation of the general indicator. It accumulated 13.1% in the ninth month of the year.

Intercity bus transport: It recorded a monthly increase of 16.4%, with an impact of 0.042pp., and a variation of 3.6% so far this year.

-Bread: It registered a monthly increase of 1.4%, with 0.031pp., accumulating 3.1% so far in 2024.

-Private passenger transport: It recorded a growth of 7.2%, with 0.030pp., accumulating 3.1% in 2024.

-Beef: Reported a monthly decline of 3.5%, with an incidence of -0.074pp., registering a variation of 0.8% so far this year.

-Gasoline: It registered a monthly decrease of 1.7%, with -0.058pp., accumulating 1.5% so far in 2024.
