Claro and Movistar will defer November consumer bills to three months, while CNT will defer them to six months.
Mobile operators in Ecuador will offer payment facilities to their customers, after reaching an agreement with the Government, the Ministers of Government and Telecommunications reported on Wednesday, October 30.
Government Minister Arturo Félix Wong said that after several days of talks with cell phone companies, several measures were taken:
- Claro and Movistar will defer November consumption bills to three months
- CNT will defer November bills for six months
The Minister of Telecommunications, César Martín, added that the telephone companies will grant:
- Five additional gigabytes for 30 days for postpaid plan users
- An additional gigabyte for seven days for prepaid plan users
Martín added that they are working “from a technical point of view starting in April, improving the battery bank that companies need to back up their services.” They are also “working hard on additional backups for critical localities for telephone service.”
He also said that the Ministry of Energy and Mines is coordinating "optimal power cuts and schedules to ensure improved service.
