The British-Chinese automaker's brand covers 25 countries in the region and will add nine more by 2025 to reach 34 countries.

With an investment of US$ 1.05 billion for the construction of the manufacturing plant in Mexico, the British-Chinese automaker, MG, announced a new stage of transformation in Mexico, which it called 2.0, since this market will be the heart of Latin America for achieving expansion.

In the framework of the fourth anniversary of the automotive company's operations in Mexico, the president of MG Motor Mexico, Zhang Wei, highlighted that at SAIC -owner of MG-, "we are in a key moment of transformation. With the concept of "MG 2.0", our objective is to evolve not only as an automotive brand, but as a leader in innovation and technology in the region."

MG Motor CEO said the Chinese company will invest $450 million in infrastructure and $500 million in equipment in the light vehicle manufacturing plant.

“A crucial pillar of our future vision is the installation of a new manufacturing plant in Mexico, with a production capacity of 100,000 units per year,” he said.

Daniel Nava, vice president of MG Motor, stressed that MG's presence in Mexico will not only serve the local market, but will also become a key production center for Latin America.

To date, the brand covers 25 countries in Latin America and in 2025 it will add 9 more to have a reach of 34 countries, where Mexico will be the automotive hub that will supply the region.

MG launched the renewed MG5 in the Mexican market to maintain at least 50% of total sales in this unit.

Last week, the automaker introduced the MG7 to cover an additional segment and the RX-9 SUV, which will give MG greater sales presence in the country.

“That is why I want to talk about the future of MG, a future we call MG 2.0. In this future, Mexico is not only consolidating its position as the second most important market worldwide for the SAIC Group, but is also becoming the driving force behind a new era of growth and development throughout Latin America,” said the CEO of MG Motor Mexico.
