On October 30, the Ministry published guidelines for imports, with the aim of signing contracts that allow the commercialization of electric energy in accordance with Brazilian standards.

Brazil's Ministry of Mines and Energy has authorized four companies to import electricity from Paraguay under the Free Contracting Area, pending approval of another 18 applications that are under analysis and should be published soon.

On October 30, the Ministry published guidelines for imports, with the aim of signing contracts that allow the commercialization of electric energy in accordance with Brazilian standards, which represents an innovation in the sector.

This measure is in line with the Memorandum of Understanding between Brazil and Paraguay, signed in April, and aims to optimize the use of energy resources. According to the National Electric System Operator (ONS), the import of electric energy must not compromise the electro-energy security of the National Interconnected System (SIN).

The Brazilian government is seeking to improve energy trade modalities between Brazil and Paraguay, aiming for greater efficiency and benefits for the electricity sector and consumers.

"We continue to strengthen regional energy integration in South America, bringing greater energy security and reliability to the productive sector and to the Brazilian energy consumer," said the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira.
