In order to promote digitalization and the development of industrial parks.

Peru will sign three memorandums of understanding with China on issues related to innovation, within the framework of the state visit of President Xi Jinping, the Ministry of Production (Produce) announced on Tuesday.

"We are going to sign memorandums of understanding with China specifically to promote innovation, digitalization, and the development of industrial parks. There are three that we are going to sign," said Produce head Sergio González in an interview with TVPerú .

Xi Jinping's visit to Peru takes place on the occasion of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum Leaders' Summit in Lima (APEC Peru 2024).

"This Thursday the memorandums will be signed. One of them is related to industrial parks so that they accompany us in the development of policies, strategies, for the promotion of industrial parks in the country. Another is the productive and innovative development. China has to take into account that it is at the forefront of innovation, technological and electronic devices. What we need is the transfer of this knowledge to our business network so that we can access international markets in this way," he said at another time in dialogue with the Andina Agency .

The objective of these memoranda, according to González, is to "promote these agenda items" linked to business innovation for the benefit of micro and small enterprises (MSEs).

"It is important to develop ventures that have this innovation component and to promote or support them financially," said the minister.

EXPORTS

On the other hand, Sergio González told TVPerú that the objective of the Executive Branch is to support SMEs in accessing international markets through technical advisory and financing programs.

"Our goal is to increase the number of exporting companies within the APEC framework, but for a SME to be able to export, it needs certain quality standards and certifications, and these also have a cost. From the Ministry of Production, through ProInnóvate, we are guiding them on the financial issue," he stressed.

"Exports require certain quality standards, both in production and processing, so that they can access better markets. First, financial support and second, technical support or assistance, technology development," he said.
