The new plant will consist of 371,040 bifacial panels and is estimated to be capable of producing 611 gigawatt hours (GWh) per year.

Spanish infrastructure management company Acciona has won a contract in Peru to build a new photovoltaic plant with a peak power of 225 megawatts (MW) for the Peruvian company Kallpa Generación, located in the district of La Joya (Arequipa).

The new plant will consist of 371,040 bifacial panels and is estimated to be capable of producing 611 gigawatt hours (GWh) per year, equivalent to the average annual energy consumption of 547,000 homes and a saving of 215,000 tons of CO2 per year, according to the company, which did not disclose the financial value of the operation.

The photovoltaic park will have an area of 549 hectares, will be connected to the Peruvian transmission network at the San José substation (220 kilowatts) and will be executed under a 'turnkey' or full EPC ( Engineering, Procurement and Construction ) model.

The company has installed 2,952 MW of photovoltaic solar plants in nine countries, including the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park (Phase III) in Dubai, with a peak capacity of 1,054 MW, and the Sishen plant in the northern Cape province (South Africa), with a capacity of 94 MWp.

In Peru, where it has been present since 1998, it has developed a multitude of projects in road works, construction and electrical transmission, and recently reached an agreement with Darby International Capital to acquire its high voltage transmission lines business in that country, an operation with an investment of 220 million euros (US$ 229 million).
