"This is what happens when you ignore the alarms, this is what happens when you don't heed the warnings," said ANDI President Bruce Mac Master on Monday via his 'X' account.
The National Association of Industrialists (ANDI), the largest business organization in Colombia, has regretted that natural gas has begun to be imported from other countries, despite the multiple alarms that businessmen have shared in recent months regarding this issue.
"This is what happens when you ignore the alarms, this is what happens when you don't heed the warnings," said ANDI President Bruce Mac Master on Monday via his 'X' account.
Businessmen had been predicting for months that "if things continued" as the country was going, natural gas would have to be imported in December. However, Mac Master recalled that Gustavo Petro's government called them alarmists for this projection and, on social media, they fueled denialism around this hypothetical scenario.
The business organization has not been the only one to spread this idea in recent weeks, but the energy sector itself warned about the supply crisis that the country was facing. However, energy companies such as Ecopetrol have denied this idea, even in the fuel crisis that airlines faced last August.
Mac Master has warned that these are not the only warnings that have been raised. "Hopefully they will not be ignored," urged the businessman who has advocated in recent months for public policies to guarantee energy security in the coffee-producing country.
