The Argentine government owns 51% of Transener, a leading public company in the transportation of extra-high voltage electric energy in the southern country.
Argentina will put up for sale its entire 51% stake in high-voltage electric power transmission company Transener in the coming days, the government said on Friday.
Transener is the leading company in the public service of extra-high voltage electric energy transmission in the southern country.
"In the next few days, the sale of the state's stake in the company Transener will be decided," said the Secretary of Energy and Mining Coordination, Daniel González, at an event to celebrate Oil Day in Buenos Aires.
The government of libertarian President Javier Milei is pushing a drastic plan to reduce the role of the state as Argentina battles its worst economic crisis in decades, with triple-digit inflation.
"This announcement is in line with the National Government's policy of moving towards a model where the State stops playing the role of a businessman, promoting private participation in strategic sectors," the Secretary of Energy said in a statement.
As the operator of the national grid, Transener is made up of almost 12,400 kilometers of transmission lines, in addition to the 6,228 kilometers of lines that make up the network of its subsidiary, the Electric Energy Transmission Company by Trunk Distribution of the Province of Buenos Aires (Tansba).
