Chilean Economy Minister meets with Argentine businessmen to import gas at a lower cost

Visiting the Bío Bío region to fulfill an agenda focused on the Industrial Strengthening Plan for the region, the Minister of Economy of Chile, Nicolás Grau, gave an advance look at how the day will unfold.

Speaking to Radio Bío Bío in Concepción, the authority recalled that both he and the authorities in the area have held meetings with authorities from Neuquén (Argentina) to consolidate an energy and commercial exchange and to finalize the importation of gas at a lower cost from the aforementioned trans-Andean province to Bío Bío.

And today, the Greater Concepción will host a new bilateral meeting to advance on the above and analyze the benefits that this can mean for companies.

The Secretary of State said that the meeting will therefore focus on finding points of cooperation.

“There are business opportunities. Businessmen should meet in business meetings and analyze these opportunities. That is part of what is going to happen today,” he said, and then stressed that the gas pipeline already exists.

Grau emphasized that every two or three weeks he travels to the Bío Bío region to work on the Industrial Strengthening Plan.

In parallel, he said that he will participate in a meeting at the University of Concepción, "where the allocation of very important funds for research" in the areas of copper and lithium mining will be announced.

Finally, the Minister of Economy assured that the Executive will continue to support the companies that were suppliers of Huachipato and that many of them "have already been able to find new buyers."
