The coffee-growing country resumed exporting electricity to Ecuador on November 17, 2024.
According to data from XM (National Interconnected System Operator and Wholesale Energy Market Administrator), energy imports from Colombia have remained stable, but have declined between the end of December and the beginning of this month.
The neighboring country resumed exporting electricity to Ecuador on November 17, 2024, after suspending sales on September 30 of last year.
Last December, the Minister of Energy and Mines (e), Inés Manzano, indicated that on average Colombia sells to Ecuador 420 megawatts (MW) and 430 MW.
In the middle of that same month, the executive president of the National Association of Generating Companies (Andeg) of that country, Alejandro Castañeda Cuervo, explained that 10 gigawatt hours (GWh), 10.5 GWh, corresponds to the almost total capacity of the link, which is more or less 435 MW.
The days on which energy purchases from Colombia were reduced were December 31, 3.63 GWh (151.25 MWh) and January 1, 2.13 GWh (88.75 MWh).
