The OECD has indicated that in the penultimate month of the year the energy bill came out of negative territory after increasing by 1.2%.

The annual inflation rate of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) stood at 4.5% in November, an identical rise in prices to that observed in October.

The OECD has indicated that in the penultimate month of the year the energy bill came out of negative territory after rising by 1.2%, while the cost of food rose by four-tenths in November, to 4.3%.

Thus, excluding the impact of energy and food prices from the calculation, the underlying inflation rate stood at 4.9%, one-tenth less than the reading for the month of October.

Among OECD countries, the inflation rate decreased in November in 11 of the 38 members of the think tank from advanced economies, increased in 14 and remained stable or practically stable in 13.

The largest year-on-year price increase was recorded in Turkey, at 47.1%, while prices remained unchanged in Costa Rica and rose by less than 1% in Switzerland and Luxembourg.
