Colombian beef shipments to Chile are expected to increase from 400 to 700 tons per month.

On Monday it was announced that the Chilean Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) has authorized five new establishments for the export of refrigerated, frozen, boneless Colombian beef.

There are four processing plants in total, plus a butchering plant. Authorization was granted after verifying compliance with the requirements (especially those of sanitary nature) established by Chilean legislation.

The shipment of Colombian meat to Chile is not new; in fact, these five plants are added to another seven that are already authorized (four of these are meat processors and three are salted pork casing processors).

These plants are added to the seven that had already been enabled (four processors of refrigerated and frozen boneless beef and three of salted pork casings), as a result of the SAG's visit to Colombia in 2024.

For this reason, Colombian exports of this product to Chile are expected to increase from 400 to 700 tons per month.

The plants authorized by Chile for the export of Colombian meat are:

• Alimentos Cárnicos SAS Processing plant located in Aguachica, Cesar. (First-time authorization).

• Red Cárnica SAS Processing and butchering plant located in Ciénaga de Oro, Córdoba. (Renewal of the permit).

• Camagüey SA Processing and cutting plant located in Galapa, Atlántico. (First-time authorization).

• Operatión & Services SAS Butchering plant located in Villavicencio, Meta. (First-time authorization).

• Colbeeff SAS Processing and cutting plant located in Floridablanca, Santander. (Renewal of the license).

The export authorization will be valid for two years, in accordance with exempt resolution No. 16/2025, issued by the SAG on January 3, 2025.

“These establishments had been left in a “pending” status, according to the report of the visit carried out by the SAG in May 2024, but, through a joint effort between the plants and Invima, action plans were implemented, which were favorably evaluated by the SAG, which allowed their authorization,” said Francisco Rossi Buenaventura, general director of Invima.

This manager also highlighted that these authorizations were given thanks to the strengthening of the inspection, surveillance and control processes carried out by Invima and ICA to achieve the admissibility of meat products in international markets.
