They grew by 21.5%, the highest increase recorded in the last ten years, according to the Central Reserve Bank of Peru.
Peru's agricultural exports reached US$ 11,151 million in 2024, 21.5% higher than the previous year.
This increase is the highest recorded in the last ten years, from 2015 to 2024, according to the Peruvian Central Reserve Bank (BCR).
The result is explained by the annual increase in prices of 17.7% due to the fact that adverse weather conditions in 2023 caused a lower supply of Peruvian products on the world market, mainly at the beginning of the year (the price of grapes grew annually by 12.1%, that of avocados by 36% and that of mangoes by 37.9%) and the rise in the international price of cocoa (147.8%).
The subsequent recovery in export volumes in the last half of the year more than offset the declines at the beginning of the year, driven by the good performance of blueberries (57.3%), closing with an annual growth of 3.2%.
In December 2024, sales of agricultural products abroad totaled 1,347 million soles (US$ 362 million), which represented a growth of 20.5% compared to the same month in 2023.
The average export volume grew by 19.6% year-on-year due to an increase in sales of mango by 476%, asparagus by 36.2% and grapes by 28.5%. The average export price, meanwhile, registered a growth of 0.8%.
