Chilean exports rose 5.8% to exceed US$18.38 billion by February 2025.

Mining recorded shipments of US$9.145 billion, an increase of 8.2% compared to the same period in 2024. Copper led the sector's growth, with an increase of 11.2%.

The Chilean government, through the Undersecretariat of International Economic Relations (SUBREI), once again reported promising figures related to the export sector.

During the first two months of 2025, he noted that shipments of goods increased 5.8% to US$18.387 billion; while services exports increased 25% in the period, totaling US$587 million.

In both cases, the amounts are "the highest for a similar period on record," according to the advance of the Monthly Trade Report prepared by the SUBREI Research Department, using data from the Central Bank and the National Customs Service.

At the item level, mining recorded exports of US$9.145 billion, an increase of 8.2% compared to the same period in 2024. The sector's growth was led by copper shipments, with operations totaling US$7.97 billion, an increase of 11.2%.

Other mining shipments that saw increases included gold, which totaled US$427 million (+99%), and molybdenum concentrate, with shipments abroad totaling US$137 million (+48%), which helped offset the decline in lithium carbonate shipments (-48%), which totaled US$304 million.

The fruit sector, for its part, recorded transactions totaling US$3.626 billion, setting a record for a similar period. This amount also represents a 5.3% increase compared to the same period in 2024, accounting for 19.7% of the country's total exports.

Fresh cherries lead the growth in foreign sales, with shipments totaling US$2.641 billion, representing a 10% increase compared to 2024.

Other shipments from the sector that saw increases in the period included avocados (+131%), plums (+28%), nectarines (+28%), apples (+51%), sarsaparillas (+73%), and cranberries (+231%), among others.

Processed food shipments reached US$2.291 billion, representing a 4.6% increase compared to the first two months of 2024.

This growth is mainly attributed to the increase in exports of mussels (+29%), cuttlefish fillets (+1,071%), salmonids (+3.2%), frozen blueberries (+23%), frozen strawberries (+1.4%) and poultry meat (+34.5%).

Organic foods, meanwhile, totaled US$126 million in shipments, showing a 16% increase compared to the January-February 2024 period.

Wines and the forestry industry

Wine shipments totaled US$226 million in revenue, down 11% compared to the same period in 2024 (-US$29.2 million), due to a decline in bulk wine exports and some bottled wines.

However, significant increases are seen in blends of bottled red wines with Denomination of Origin (DO), rosé wines, sparkling wines, and in the bottled Chardonnay varieties with organic grapes, bottled Pinot Blanc, and bottled Cabernet Sauvignon with organic grapes.

The forestry industry totaled shipments of US$1.056 billion, an increase of 3.1% compared to the first two months of 2024.

The increase is attributed to growth in exports of cellulose (+16.1%) and cardboard (+9.2%), which largely offset contractions in shipments of wood chips (-16.3%), sawn wood (-4%) and wood fiberboard (-1.8%).

Services

In the first two months of 2025, a total of 165 different services were exported, with 98 of them recording an increase compared to 2024.

The main exports in this sector were website hosting with shipments of US$74.5 million (+93%), followed by business administration with US$62 million (+266%), marketing consulting with US$53 million (+249%), aircraft maintenance and repair with US$51 million (-39%), and information technology consulting with US$24 million (+14%).

As for the services that grew the most during the period, the following stand out: business administrative management consulting (+266%), marketing consulting (+249%), website hosting (+93%), commercial commission services (+84%), inbound and outbound logistics support (+98%), and filming using animation techniques (+206%).
