The plan includes US$8.6 billion for the automotive sector, US$6.1 billion for the steel, engine parts, and logistics sectors, and another US$6.3 billion for energy and high-value-added industries.

South Korean car brand Hyundai will invest $21 billion (€19.437 billion) in the United States by 2028 as part of the tariff war launched by the Donald Trump administration to encourage industrial production in the United States.

The plan includes $8.6 billion (€7.959 billion) for the automotive sector, $6.1 billion (€5.646 billion) for the steel, engine parts, and logistics sectors, and another $6.3 billion (€5.831 billion) for energy and high-value-added industries.

The announcement, made at the White House by the group's chairman, Chung Eui-sun, in the presence of Trump and Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, makes the Asian company the first from its country to invest in the United States on a large scale to circumvent the trade policy championed by the Republican administration.

Trump has already imposed 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from abroad, while warning of future levies targeting the automotive, semiconductor, and pharmaceutical sectors.
