"This collaboration with UNDP enhances our capacity to promote sustainable development in the countries we serve. Together, we will achieve tangible transformation, with results that improve people's lives," emphasized CABEI Executive President Gisela Sánchez.
The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) have signed a Procedures Agreement and Financial Instruments Memorandum, which strengthens their strategic alliance and lays the groundwork for collaboration on priority projects that promote sustainable development, regional integration, and the resilience of the region's countries.
"This collaboration with UNDP enhances our capacity to promote sustainable development in the countries we serve. Together, we will achieve tangible transformation, with results that improve people's lives," emphasized CABEI Executive President Gisela Sánchez.
The agreement establishes more agile mechanisms for channeling financial resources and technical assistance, improving the implementation of programs supported by CABEI and accompanied by UNDP. Priority areas include poverty reduction, climate action, energy transition, governance, and the protection of ecosystems such as reefs, all under the principles of transparency, efficiency, and accountability.
"UNDP and CABEI share a vision of inclusive, resilient, and equitable development. The signing of this agreement strengthens our commitment to supporting the region's transformation through solutions that strengthen governance, address inequality, and protect the region's nature," shared Michelle Muschett, Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean of the United Nations Development Programme.
The partnership also includes strengthening CABEI's institutional capacities through tools that assess the impact of its operations on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as promoting solutions tailored to local needs to support more effective public policies.
This initiative reaffirms the joint commitment of CABEI and UNDP to an inclusive, sustainable, and people-centered development model that concretely addresses the region's most pressing challenges.
