Chilean government admits "mistaken" flight of aircraft in Argentine airspace

On Friday afternoon, a Chilean Army helicopter was detected entering the area without authorization or any information indicating that it was an emergency.

Foreign Minister Alberto van Klaveren confirmed on Monday that a Chilean aircraft had flown “in error” into Argentine airspace.

This was confirmed by the head of Chilean diplomacy, who acknowledged that “a mistake was indeed made.”

"There was an overflight in Argentine airspace," he added.

Let us remember that according to information published by the trans-Andean portal Infobae , on Friday afternoon the entry of a Chilean Army helicopter into Argentine airspace was detected, without authorization or information that it was an emergency.

The incident occurred near the Roballos International Pass in Santa Cruz, on the border with the Aysén region.

In response to the incident, the Argentine Foreign Ministry sent a note to the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs to request an explanation for the violation of airspace.
