Alberto Otárola

Alberto Otárola said he was the victim of a plot and accused the former president, Martín Vizcarra, of being behind the conspiracy.

The Prime Minister, Alberto Otárola, announced that today he presented to the president of Peru, Dina Boluarte, his resignation from office, with the aim of recomposing the ministerial cabinet and for the government to continue working for the less fortunate in the country.

Otárola's resignation comes after a local journalistic program broadcast last Sunday an audio linking him to Yaziré Pinedo, a young man who obtained contracts with the State.

"I have communicated my resignation from office to give peace of mind to President Boluarte so that she can reorganize her cabinet. There is a line of work that is left for the country," he told the press from the headquarters of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

He claimed that the audio in question was manipulated and edited. In this regard, he stressed that the Public Ministry must carry out the respective expert opinion on the material.

He assured that he is subject to all the investigations of the Prosecutor's Office and expressed confidence that the "gross" manipulation of the audio will be demonstrated.

He said that he was the victim of a plot and accused the former president of the Republic, Martín Vizcarra, of being behind the conspiracy.

Otárola Peñaranda stressed that she never dealt with corruption and highlighted her professional career marked by ethics and respect for the country.

Through a statement, he said that he puts himself at the service of the country and affirmed that he never acted badly in office nor was he involved in acts of corruption.

In that sense, Otárola Peñaranda denied having intervened in the hiring of any person in the State.
