"We have an inflation of 0.79%, it is not even 1%. This figure places Bolivia with the lowest inflation in the region in South America; Ecuador has 0.9% and other countries have high inflation," he told journalists.
According to the minister, controlling inflation allows purchasing power to remain unchanged in the Andean country based on household consumption of food, transportation, rent, among others.
At the global level, data from the Ministry of Economy and Public Finance show that Bolivia, with 2.7% annual inflation, as of June 2023, is only surpassed by six nations that reported indicators below 2%.
The Vice Minister of Budget and Fiscal Accounting, Zenón Mamani, recently told Xinhua that Bolivia closed the first half of this year with an accumulated and controlled inflation of 0.79%, below forecasts, as a result of containment and stability policies. emerging from the Productive Community Social Economic Model.
"Bolivia has one of the lowest inflation rates in the region, which reflects that the country has economic stability, price stability and generates certainty," he said.
Bolivia closed 2022 with the lowest inflation in the South American region by registering a Consumer Price Index of 3.12%.
