Mexico: STPS will coordinate with federal entities to address US labor demands.

For the Government of Mexico, the Rapid Response Labor Mechanism is one of the issues that must be reviewed within the Trade Agreement between Mexico, the United States and Canada in 2026.

Given the growing number of labor complaints sent by the United States Government that demand to review the labor violations of companies installed in Mexico, the state labor secretaries signed a collaboration agreement to jointly and coordinatedly address these requests under the trade agreement. of North America (T-MEC).

Within the specific commitments of this agreement, it is established that the Ministry of Labor and Social Prevention (STPS) and the authorities of the 32 federal entities will confidentially exchange key information about each case of complaints under the Labor Response Mechanism. Rapid (MLRR), from the moment Mexico receives a review request until the case is closed.

In addition, both parties will be promptly informed of any communication they maintain with authorities in the United States and Canada on labor issues, related to the federal entity in question, whether or not linked to the USMCA Rapid Response Labor Mechanism.

It is worth highlighting that for the Government of Mexico, the Rapid Response Labor Mechanism is one of the issues that must be reviewed within the T-MEC in 2026.
