Bolivia plans to export fluid milk and its derivatives to Chile from mid-June

The highland country exports milk to Peru, Colombia and Mexico, and with this new market it is expected to increase sales substantially.

    The Vice Minister of Industrialization Policies in Bolivia, Luis Siles, announced that the export of fluid milk and its derivatives (yogurt, cheese and others) to Chile is expected to begin in mid-June.

    “We hope that this month of June, after the first fortnight, we can begin the actual export processes,” he stated in an interview with La Razón Radio .

    On Monday it was learned that Bolivia is authorized to export fluid milk to Chile after receiving Exempt Resolution 2965, which recognizes the country free of foot and mouth disease with and without vaccination.

    “The Plurinational State of Bolivia was authorized to export fluid milk and its derivatives to the Republic of Chile, thanks to the recognition obtained from the neighboring country, through Exempt Resolution 2965, as a country free of foot-and-mouth disease with and without vaccination,” it says. the resolution.

    Siles highlighted that the export of milk “is an achievement”, because this product is the second most important food production after soybeans. “It is more than a million tons of milk that is produced in the country.”

    Currently, Bolivia exports fluid milk to Peru, Colombia and Mexico and it is expected that a new market will improve production and the economic situation of producers. The vice minister assured that the Government seeks to open up the market in Brazil and the Asian market.

    “The Asian market interests us a lot because it is massive. Chile is an important step. For now, we are focusing on neighboring countries,” he added.

    When asked about the amount of products that Bolivia will export to the neighboring country, Siles indicated that it will depend on the orders that Chile places. “The orders will come.”

    Regarding other food products, he assured that Bolivia has a large amount of raw materials to export, such as quinoa, chia and açaí, among others.
