According to data from UN Tourism regarding the number of visitors, France once again ranks as the most visited country in the world. In 2023, the French country will receive more than 100 million visitors. For its part, Spain placed in a creditable second place with 85 million tourists, followed by the United States (66 million), Italy (57 million) and Turkey, which closed the 'Top 5' with a total of 55 million international tourists. .
Mexico, the United Kingdom, Germany, Greece and Austria complete the list of the ten most visited destinations worldwide in 2023. Compared to before the pandemic, countries such as Italy, Turkey, Mexico, Germany and Austria rise in positions, while the United Kingdom and Greece drop some places.
Regarding income from international tourism, the classification is headed by the United States, which brought in US$ 176,020 million in 2023, followed by Spain (US$ 92,001 million), the United Kingdom (US$ 74,022 million), France (US$ 69,001 .6 million) and Italy (US$ 56,060.8 million).
Completing the list of the 15 destinations that raised the most tourism revenue in 2023 are the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Australia, Canada, Japan, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Macau (China), India and Mexico.
Among the upward movements in the ranking among the countries with the highest income, the United Kingdom stands out, which jumped from the fifth position it held before the pandemic to third place, the United Arab Emirates, which went from 13th to 6th, Turkey from 12th to 7th. , Canada from 15 to 9, Saudi Arabia from 27 to 12 and Mexico from 17 to 15.
In 2023, Croatia (25th position), Dominican Republic (34th position), Qatar (from 51st to 37th place) and Colombia (from 50th to 44th place) also rose in the ranking of the top 50 countries by income.
FORECAST OF TOTAL RECOVERY WORLDWIDE IN 2024
According to the latest World Tourism Barometer, in 2023, international tourist arrivals reached 89% of 2019 levels and, in the first quarter of 2024, they reached 97% of those levels.
