It has been contemplated that, in this new session, the negotiation of disciplines such as Intellectual Property oriented towards cooperation, Competition Policy and Investments will be included.
This Monday, Ecuador began the second round of negotiations for the signing of a trade agreement with Canada, which will last eight days, until next Tuesday, June 18.
After the completion of the first round of negotiations, which took place from April 29 to May 8, the technical teams have held several meetings with the aim of advancing the discussion and analysis of the texts of the different disciplines.
It has been contemplated that, in this new day, the negotiation of disciplines such as Intellectual Property oriented towards cooperation, Competition Policy and Investments will be included. Additionally, the rapprochements maintained between chief negotiators have made it possible to identify the progress and achievements achieved in each of the negotiated disciplines.
The development of the second round of negotiations marks a significant step towards deepening trade cooperation between Ecuador and Canada, and will continue to lay the foundations for a constructive dialogue and mutually beneficial collaboration that allows exploring opportunities to expand the exchange of goods and services , as well as measures to facilitate bilateral trade.
"Through the negotiation of this type of instruments, Ecuador reaffirms its commitment to multilateralism, free trade, the promotion of sustainable practices, human rights, environmental protection, and sustainable economic development," defended the Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries.
