After almost five years of sustained growth, the startup Retorna revolutionized the digital finances of thousands of migrants, students and digital nomads. Today, it seeks to expand its range of services and destinations, which include Latin America, the US and Europe.

Retorna, the international payments platform focused on sending remittances, announced the expansion of its operations and an improvement in the service it provides to people thanks to the raising of US$ 1.2 million in a new capital round in which Impacta participated VC, Amplifica Capital, Morro Ventures and other angel investors with extensive experience in the industry.

The startup , led by Atilana Piñón and Juan Camilo Mora, was created to solve the problems that thousands of migrants, students and digital nomads experience when transferring money to other countries, including the high cost of commissions, the long waiting times, lack of banking services and a greater risk of fraud, among others.

Therefore, this new financing milestone marks a crucial step in the startup 's mission to revolutionize digital finance and expand its services and destinations to target a broader demographic of migrants.

Since its creation in 2019, Retorna has established itself as a key player in the remittance market, with operations that cover Chile, Colombia and Peru as countries of origin for shipments to the rest of Latin America, the United States and Europe. To date, the startup records more than 3 million transactions and more than 40,000 customers.

“We are very pleased to receive this injection of capital that not only validates our past successes, but will also help us benefit more people around the world and expand our vision of empowering migrants with financial tools that can transform their lives and those of their families,” commented Juan Camilo Mora, co-CEO of Retorna.

For her part, Atilana Piñón, co-founder and co-CEO, points out that the startup has been fundamental in transforming the financial landscape for migrants, providing safer, faster and cheaper ways to manage their money.

“Unlike many other applications, Retorna is designed specifically for the needs of the migrant community, offering security, speed, service and fair and competitive rates. This has allowed us to combat informality and become one of the most important references in the industry,” he explained.

SUSTAINED GROWTH

The idea for Retorna arose from a personal need found by Atilana Piñón, its founder, who experienced first-hand the challenges of sending money abroad through WhatsApp contacts that she did not know, with the consequent risk of scams and fraud.

Since then, the migratory experience has been Retorna's main focus. Therefore, it focuses on combating crimes such as fraud, money laundering and scam prevention.

After five years of sustained growth, today Retorna offers a series of benefits, including competitive rates, speed of delivery, real-time transaction tracking, customer service focused on solving problems and world-class security measures, positioning itself as a perfect option for migrants who want to financially support their families in their country of origin.

“Our unique proposition lies in the high-impact effect derived from offering a wide range of payment and delivery options, from bank transfers and mobile wallets to cash, and a real-time delivery service, fostering customer engagement and growth. of operations. This differentiated proposal allows us to take advantage of economies of scale, ensuring better prices and improving the competitive advantage in the market,” explained Piñón.
