Bolivia announces full liberalization of exports and calls for dialogue on the economy

President Luis Arce said that it will allow exporters and agricultural producers to invest in the long term to satisfy the domestic market and expand international markets.

President Luis Arce announced this Tuesday the full liberalization of exports, although conditional on the presentation of a five-year plan for internal supply and investment, which must be previously approved by the Government.

Likewise, he announced that he will call on businessmen and social organizations for a dialogue to take joint actions against the economic crisis that is being experienced in the country.

Regarding the liberalization of exports, the President said that it will allow exporters and agricultural producers to invest in the long term to satisfy the domestic market and expand international markets.

“Liberate exports with the presentation of a five-year internal supply plan. This program will allow the sustained expansion of exports through a five-year investment and production plan approved by the Government that will increase productivity and the flow of exports and the arrival of foreign currency,” said Arce in his speech for the 199 years of independence. from Bolivia.

He highlighted the work in coordination with Bolivian businessmen that allowed “more opportunities” for Bolivian products in the international market.

Exports
He gave as examples the sale of chia, meat, sorghum, singani and wines to China. To Japan, the export of 11 tons of canned hearts of palm; to Chile of beef and dairy products; In Russia, he said, work continues on opening the sale of quinoa, wine, singani, coffee beans, banana, hearts of palm, beef and dehydrated meat, among others.

In February of this year, the Government and the business community signed an agreement that establishes 10 measures, including the liberalization of exports with streamlining of procedures, to overcome the shortage of dollars. However, the measure only affected soybean byproducts (cake, wholemeal flour, crude oil and refined oil), rice and sorghum.

The full release of exports has been a request from businessmen and producers for several years and with greater emphasis on this management due to the difficulties in the flow of dollars.

Dialogue
Likewise, Arce announced that, to face the crisis, he will call on businessmen and social organizations for a dialogue.

“After listening to the productive business sectors, and the population as a whole, we have made the decision to convene a 'National Dialogue for the Economy and Production' in the coming days.”

In the meeting with the private business community, the problems of the exchange rate, exports and imports, among other topics, will be discussed.

For more than an hour, in his speech at the Casa de la Libertada, the president made an evaluation of the country's situation and recalled that external inflationary pressure and recession have an impact on the country's economy.
