According to recent data from the Mexican Electromobility Barometer conducted by the Electro Mobility Association, the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles increased by 23% in the second quarter of the year.

BMW Mexico will work hand in hand with the clean mobility company, VEMO, to install 144 charging points in 20 key locations in the Mexican Republic, which will facilitate easy access to electric vehicles.

According to VEMO, the German automaker signed a strategic alliance to accelerate the development of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, a goal shared by both companies that seek to facilitate access to more points where they can connect to the grid in the country.

VEMO will therefore be responsible for installing charging points to strengthen the public electromobility network in Mexico.

Roberto Rocha, co-founder and CEO of VEMO in Mexico, explained that the agreement with BMW will strengthen the expansion plan for VEMO's public charging network, the most robust and reliable in that country.

“We are excited to collaborate with BMW Group Mexico, a leader in the premium automotive sector, to jointly promote the development of electromobility in the country. We are firmly committed to leading this change towards a future with more sustainable and clean mobility,” he said.

According to recent data from the Mexican Electromobility Barometer conducted by the Electro Mobility Association (EMA), the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles increased by 23% in the second quarter of the year, to 39,257 positions.

To date, VEMO has the largest charging network in all of Mexico, with more than 500 charging points installed in 11 states of the country, and more than 40 thousand charging events on average per month.

After making strenuous efforts to decarbonize mobility in Mexico, the company managed to displace 10,813 tons of polluting emissions (CO2e) in 2023.

“In the year that we celebrate 30 years in Mexico, we also celebrate a decade of selling purely electric cars in our country. We are the premium company with the widest range of battery-powered models, whether purely electric or plug-in hybrids, with 11 models from BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad,” said Diego Camargo, CEO of BMW Mexico.

In addition, he added, BMW has installed more than 33,000 personal or corporate chargers in the homes or companies of our clients, "we will not stop supporting the infrastructure in public networks of our country through local alliances," said the CEO of BMW.
