The company, which already exported to the United States, signed a manufacturing agreement with a Peruvian company and is seeking more alliances outside its country of origin.
The Ecuadorian company Vita Alimentos has begun its international expansion phase with exports of its products to Peru. This was achieved through a maquila agreement with Supermercados Peruanos, one of the largest corporations in the neighboring country, Vita reported.
He added that the first two shipments, totaling 118,800 liters, have already been dispatched and contain products from the three brands that are part of the agreement: Aro, Bell's and Valida, and include both whole and skimmed milk.
The commercial agreement includes the production and export of 80,000 liters of milk per month, distributed among the three participating brands, which are processed at the Vita Alimentos plant in Tulcán.
“We are very enthusiastic about starting our international expansion, as it brings important advantages for both the company and the country. On the one hand, it strengthens our productive capacity and competitiveness, which benefits our entire value chain and projects us as a high-growth business organization,” said Daniel Orbe, general manager of Vita Alimentos.
He added that at a national level, Vita Alimentos' operations in Peru contribute to the trade balance and the competitive level of Ecuadorian companies abroad.
“It is undoubtedly a fundamental step that we have managed to achieve, based on the efforts of the entire team and the track record we have, which brings us closer to our strategic objective of taking Vita Alimentos to another level,” he said.
He also highlighted that this increase in production volume directly benefits dairy farmers in the Carchi dairy basins, both at a productive level by having greater demand and at a competitive level by offering high-quality raw materials.
For his part, Galo Aguirre, manager of New Business and Key Accounts at Vita Alimentos, highlighted that the Peruvian company found in Vita Alimentos a partner that meets all its quality and safety requirements, backed by the certifications that the company has obtained in both ISO 9001 quality and ISO FSSC 22000 safety.
This is not the Ecuadorian company's first foray abroad. In 2022, it began a first phase of exports to the United States with the shipment of 22,500 liters per month, and in a second stage it was planned to increase the exported volume to 90,000 liters, to meet the demand of the Ecuadorian community living in that country.
Meanwhile, Aguirre revealed that the company's expansion plans are currently more ambitious, noting that Vita Alimentos is in negotiations with other international companies, with a view to achieving more commercial agreements for direct export of its brand, as well as for manufacturing with foreign partners in the region.
