According to the predictions of the Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador, it is estimated that these results will be surpassed during the second half of the year, since the high season months (July and August) are especially relevant for the sector.

Ecuador has received a total of 589,082 tourists during the first six months of 2024, of which 10.12% were Spanish, according to figures released by the Andean country's government.

In June, the busiest month of the first half of the year, 122,126 travellers visited the South American country. This figure has already been surpassed in July, where data show that 127,729 tourists came to visit Ecuador, representing an increase of 4.59% compared to the previous month.

According to the predictions of the Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador, it is estimated that these results will be surpassed during the second half of the year, since the high season months (July and August) are especially relevant for the sector.

2023 was also a year of positive figures for inbound tourism. More than 1.42 million tourists visited the country, 12.77% more than in 2022. These figures also exceed the international arrivals of 2021 (669,475) and 2020 (507,333).

THE EUROPEAN TOURIST, ONE OF THE DRIVERS OF TOURISM

According to data from Mabrian Technologies, a company specializing in providing Tourist Intelligence services, the majority of online searches about Ecuador during the first half of 2024 were generated by Spanish tourists, with travelers from Madrid, Murcia and Navarra standing out.

The German tourist market comes next in the ranking (with a predominance of tourists from the states of Bavaria and Hess), while the French market (Île-de-France, Midi-Pyrénées, Provence-Alpes) comes third.

As for the interest shown in the different experiences of Ecuador, the data show that Spaniards prefer, in order, sun and beach tourism, nightlife and cultural tourism.

The French prefer shopping, cultural and wellness tourism (spa, relaxation and meditation), while German travellers prefer sun and beach holidays, followed by shopping and wellness tourism.
