The Mexican president confirmed that she received a call from her American counterpart to discuss the relationship between both nations on various issues.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced that she spoke by telephone with her U.S. counterpart Joe Biden to discuss bilateral cooperation on various issues.
"I received a call from the President of the United States, Joseph Biden, in which we discussed bilateral cooperation in economic, cultural and commercial matters. I appreciate his congratulations after taking office as the first female president of Mexico," Sheinbaum wrote on her social media account X.
On October 1, President Biden issued a statement congratulating Sheinbaum after taking office as the first female President of Mexico.
"Jill (the first lady) and I extend our most sincere congratulations to President Claudia Sheinbaum on her inauguration," the US president said in a statement released by the US Embassy in Mexico.
In his message, President Biden highlighted that Mexico and the United States, which are major trading partners, "share deep political, economic and cultural ties" and reiterated his country's commitment to continue working with Mexico to achieve a "prosperous and secure" future.
It should be remembered that last Monday, the US president also expressed his interest in meeting soon with Sheinbaum Pardo once he was sworn in.
