Purchases by Brazilians in Paraguay represent 31% of the commercial movement of foreigners.

Brazil's most popular electronic payment system, Pix, is now available in more than 35,000 businesses in Paraguay, encouraging shopping tourism in the country, Bancard reported.

PIX is an instant interbank transfer system between Brazilian accounts, created by the Central Bank of Brazil. Its features of real-time transactions, simplicity and practicality, as well as high security, quickly positioned it as one of the favorite payment methods for consumers in that country.

This tool transcends borders, since Brazilian purchases in Paraguay represent 31% of the commercial movement of foreigners, and greater widespread use is expected after the enabling of the system for the payment of goods and services in the Guaraní country, managed by Bancard.

Bancard, the country's largest electronic payment processor and owned by most of Paraguay's major banks, reported that 35,000 local businesses are now affiliated with its Infonet network, and that the trend is on the rise.

According to data from Bancard, purchases from the neighboring country increased their volume by 10% accumulated until August, compared to the same period in 2023. The greatest movement is recorded in border areas and Asunción.

So far, more than US$ 2 million in purchases have been recorded with PIX at the Bancard POS. Among the benefits of accepting Pix, it is mentioned that businesses will be able to charge their customers directly in reais and receive payments in guaraníes. The crediting takes place in 48 hours and the service is available 24/7.

The Bancard Network accepts the largest number of payment methods, as well as almost all card brands, electronic wallets, QR codes, installment payments, as well as additional options such as change service, account status review, transactions, among others.

This not only leads to an optimization of business operations, but also contributes to increasing
competitiveness in the market and strengthening customer relations, says the aforementioned operator.
