The stores are located in Crofton, Maryland, and Chicago, Illinois, and are part of an expansion plan that hopes to reach more than 170 stores in the coming months.

A little over a month after announcing the opening of a new supermarket in Seminole, Florida (United States), the Chilean retailer Cencosud announced the opening of two new The Fresh Market stores, this time in the towns of Crofton (Maryland) and Chicago (Illinois).

In Illinois, this is The Fresh Market's fifth location in the state, and the Crofton location is the fifth store in Maryland, where customers will be able to access specialty products, bakery items, fish and seafood, premium meats and high-quality fruits and vegetables.

In addition, the locations will offer a variety of prepared dishes such as hamburgers, pizzas, hummus bowls with proteins or salads in the case of Chicago, while the location located in Crofton will offer classic pork ribs, pizzas and salads, as well as a wide assortment of grab&go products.

Cencosud stated that “The Fresh Market is a specialty supermarket highly valued by Americans, which has positioned itself thanks to its offer of fresh products and high-quality prepared food. These new openings are part of an expansion plan with which we hope to exceed 170 stores in the coming months, in a market where there is a lot of room to grow in this format.”

The Fresh Market CEO, Jason Potter, explained that “we are very excited to be part of the community in Lincoln Park (Chicago, Illinois), where we are arriving with an innovative proposal in which you can enjoy all the quality of The Fresh Market in addition to a cafeteria and products made in the store, being a meeting place for friends and families.”

Regarding the Crofton store, he added that “the opening of this new location represents a significant milestone in our growth strategy. Our goal is to provide communities with the highest quality products and a distinctive, convenient and enjoyable shopping experience. We seek to be part of the Crofton community and offer our customers a place where they feel welcome.”

To celebrate the opening of both locations, both stores featured a traditional bread-cutting ceremony, vendor tastings, and live music, as well as a donation to the Maryland Food Bank and the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
