Through his social networks, Luis Arce said that the meeting with his Chinese counterpart was “fruitful.”

On Tuesday, Bolivian President Luis Arce held a bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, within the framework of the G20 Summit taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The meeting was also attended by ministers from the economic and hydrocarbon sectors, such as Alejandro Gallardo, head of the Ministry of Hydrocarbons, and Marcelo Montenegro, head of the Ministry of Economy.

Also participating were the presidents of the Bolivian Fiscal Oilfields (YPFB) and Bolivian Lithium Fields (YLB), Armin Dorgathen and Omar Alarcón, respectively.

    MEETING

The meeting did not last long and at the end, Arce posted a video on his social media in which he said that the meeting was “fruitful.”

“Today in Brazil, within the framework of the G20 Leaders' Summit, we had a pleasant and fruitful meeting with brother President Xi Jinping,” the president wrote.

However, he did not provide further details on the issues discussed with the delegation from the Asian giant.

However, shortly before the meeting, the Government announced that issues of economic cooperation and strengthening relations between the two countries would be discussed.

The government maintains that cooperation with China is key to achieving economic and commercial development in the country.

In addition, financial agreements are expected between both countries. For this reason, the president of the Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB), Edwin Rojas, was also present at the meeting.

The G20 Leaders' Summit began on Monday and will end on Tuesday, with the leaders of the 19 member countries from the five continents, plus the African Union and the European Union.

The Arce government highlighted Bolivia's first participation in this type of meeting and the importance of gaining greater prominence in international politics.

Furthermore, the meeting with the Chinese president is part of Bolivia's growing alliances with the BRICS countries (an economic bloc made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), from which it received an invitation to become a partner state.
